    Dr. Yan Shuai

    Former President of Society of China University Journals and STM Publishing Consultant

    Dr. Shuai is currently an independent consultant based in Beijing. His previous career endeavors include Associate Chief Editor of Tsinghua University Press (TUP), Director of TUP’s Journal Publishing Center, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Tsinghua University (Science and Technology), and the Director of Journal Publishing Department of Beijing Forestry University. Further, Shuai has also worked with societies and government organizations for many years as the President of Society of China University Journals, Vice President of China Periodical Association, Member of CAST’s Committee for Academic Exchanges, and Member of the Ministry of Education’s S&T Committee.

    Dr. Jun Sun

    Associate Editor for American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology

    Dr. Jun Sun is a tenured Professor and Associate Head of Department of Medicine, the University of Illinois Chicago, USA. She is an elected Fellow for the American Physiological Society (APS) and American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Fellow. She chairs the national Task Force Committee on Omics Pathobiology in Long COVID and writing white papers on COVID and microbiome research. Dr. Sun has published over 210 scientific articles in leading journals such as Gastroenterology, Gut, Cell Steam Cell, Nature Genetics, Gut Microbes, JBC, and AJP-GI. She is the leading editor of 6 books on microbiome and disease, including two American Physiological Society (APS) e-books (Nature/Spring) titled “Mechanisms underlying host-microbiome interactions in pathophysiology of human diseases” and “Inflammation, infection, and microbiome in cancers: evidence, mechanisms, and implications”. She serves on the editorial board of more than 10 peer-reviewed journals, including a Deputy Editor for American Journal of Physiology-GIL, an Associate Editor for Gut Microbes, IBD Journal, and Genes & Diseases.

    Dr. Wei Kong

    Chair & Professor, Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, Peking University Health Science Center

    Dr. Wei Kong acquired her MD and PhD degree in Tongji Medical University, Wuhan, China and received her postdoctoral training in University of Washington, Seattle and New York University, NYC in US. After she came back to China and set up her own lab, her research interest has been focused on the underlying mechanism of vascular cell differentiation/transdifferentiation and how the extracellular matrix microenvironment affects vascular homeostasis and pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis, post injury restenosis, vascular calcification and aortic aneurysm. She has published more than 110 peer-reviewed papers in Circulation, Blood, Circ Res, Nat Commun, et al and severed as associate editor of AJP-Cell Physiology and editorial board member of Circ Res, Matrix Biology et al. She was awarded China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists (2012) and Scholars of the Yangtze river (2017), the Bill Gates foundation innovation challenge - young scientist (2016). She is also the principle scientist of National Natural Science Fund for Innovative Research Groups Science Foundation (2019).

    Session Agenda

    We are pleased to announce that the American Physiological Society with Enago and Accucoms will conduct an interactive online session to help researchers overcome the challenges involved in the preparation, submission, and publication of manuscripts in international scientific journals. The webinar will also introduce researchers to the publishing cycle followed by APS journals and will provide tips to avoid ethical issues and misconduct.

    Session 1: Best Practices for Successful Publications in International Journals (10 Minutes)

    Successful publication in high-impact journals with global outreach is not only important for researchers' career advancement but also for increased credibility and recognition amongst their peers. Enago’s session will aim to facilitate the publication journey of research scholars by helping them address the challenges involved in preparing an error-free, submission-ready manuscript for publication in international journals.

    Session 2: Why APS? Submitting & Publishing with American Physiological Society (APS) Journals (15 Minutes)

    We know authors have a choice of where to publish their work, and the intricacies of where and how best to submit your research can be daunting. We will guide Chinese colleagues on their journey from submission to publication with APS Journals, published by the American Physiological Society (APS). Starting with submitting a high-quality paper to revising your manuscript after it is accepted and even promoting your work post-publication, APS is here to help our authors share their best work with the physiology community.     Session 3: Ethics in Scholarly Publishing (5 minutes)

    Making sure authors are aware of common ethical issues before they even start writing their papers can greatly increase their chances of a successful submission. Using examples from the APS publication experience, we will define a variety of ethical issues such as Plagiarism, Duplicate and Redundant Publication, Falsification and Fabrication, Figure Manipulation, Human/Animal Welfare Issue, Conflict of Interest, Authorship, and tips on how to avoid them.
